Bank accounts are now held for 7 years but in 2013 accounts were held for only 3 years leading to a large amount of unclaimed money. Holding authorities are motivated to keep the funds and may move the money to general (usable) funds if not claimed. Article link:

YES, We are members of LAUMA: Lost And Unclaimed Money Association. www.lostandunclaimedmoney.com.au phone for agent authentication and verification: 1800 880 026
How Is Money Lost?
Usually information has not been updated (phone number, email address, mailing address, typing errors, or the company you are using changed ownership and the new owners didn’t bother to return the money in dormant accounts, and sent it to Lost and Unclaimed Money to sort out.
In all cases there are very few people locating owners. This is where we come in to notify you and help you get your money back.
Finding your refunds with typographical errors is like finding a needle in a haystack. This is an important reason why funds are not returned.
